HP (AirPrint) Print Driver access rights issue on Apple Silicon MacBook Air

I am putting this here to help others!

On Mac OS 11.0/11.1 on an Apple Silicon MacBook Air is was unable to open the print queue or scanner windows from the printer and scanner pref panel. The console log files said that the SandBoxed printer process did not have proper access rights to access some system pref panel settings. Printing actually worked and I was able to access the scanner with the system "Image Capture" app.

I deleted all the printers/print drivers (from the Library/Printers folder.) I also made sure no other HP software was installed I the added my printer as an "AirPrint Secure" printer from the printer/scanner pref control panel. Printer seemed to get added correctly BUT same issue happened. Could not access the print queue.

The solution:

When to the directory /users/[username]/Library/Printers

and did get info on the file:

"HP Color Laser Jet"

and selected the check box open using rosetta.

That fixed the issue. So there is some sandboxing/native Apple Silicon bug with the driver such that the non native code works!
