Fitness+ with lightning to HDMI adapter

Has anyone tried to use Lighting to HDMI adapter to play new Fitness+ program? It did not work for me.

My set up:

I don't have a TV in my home gym. But I do have a large white wall. So I thought I could just use my portable projector to project the Fitness+ program onto the large white wall and work out that way, almost perfect right?

I have iPhone 12 mini (instant regret to play any videos on it and watch while working out is a pain duh), and I have the Apple branded Lightning to digital AV adapter. I use the same adapter and same portable projector to play Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, HBO, Spectrum TV, and Peloton workout app all just fine, so I don't think it's a copy right issue. But when I tried to use the same way to mirror the new Fitness+ program, the screen will go as far as the workout count down, 3, 2, 1 then projector screen would go blank, and video feed would switch back to my tiny 12 mini screen. but the sound would still play out from projector speaker, just no video. Any solution / thought?

I’m joining this club.

Maddening and frustrating. Plus the sellers of cables on Amazon UK at least, don’t seem to know this restriction. They warn about not being able to use Netflix etc. So I purchased thinking it would be fine.

Apple is crazy to think users will buy an Apple TV (I already have one but not in the room I’m using for Apple Fitness+ in lockdown UK) or use an iPhone screen.

I know Apple don’t bother looking at this forum but I’ll write it anyway...

...get this sorted Apple. Craziness.

Yea.. at this point it seems like certain members here were right, it looks like this was intentionally done. Oh well, thank goodness I have other fitness alternative to use, I’m not depending on Apple fitness+ Peace out lol

I’m using the lightning to HDMI adapter and it doesn’t work. Strangely enough, when i open the AppleTv+ app, it plays movies just fine on the projector using the adapter but the Apple Fitness cuts off every time.

I was told that it did not work with airplay yet. I believe that iOS 14.5 is supposed to add that feature.

I am curious is anyone has gotten it to work via the usb-c on an iPad Air.

I was told by Apple that it would work with the HDMI dongle but it clearly will not based on what I see here.

I am very curious for a solution to this problem. I lack home internet and can’t afford to use my hotspot on Apple Fitness. Especially considering their is no way to lower the data stream. I download 50 plus videos to my phone on WiFi at McDonald’s to avoid using data in general. I almost ordered a projector and cable from Apple, glad I read this first.

No the Health Fitness on iPad Pro does not link to the watch. You can’t download the watch app to an iPad Pro. I have the same problem that I want to wear my watch and use the lightening to hdmi adapter to play on a tv and it does not work. Feeling very unhappy right about now.

I have the same problem. I even tried to mirror it on my TV via the fire stick and can only get as far as 3,2 1 before the video plays on my phone and speakers come out of the tv. Nobody wants to do workouts watching their phones. It’s really bad of Apple. I’ll be cancelling my free subscription when it ends. It’s a shame as the exercises look great.

Don't assume you speak for anyone but yourself. I regularly watch workouts on my phone. I find it extremely convenient. And, given the number of fitness apps available for the iPhone, I'd guess I'm not alone.

Good for you, I’m glad you find comfort watching a fitness video on your iPhone. I agree there are lots of fitness apps available but the majority of them can be cast to your TV for more comfort to join in rather than doing it on a small screen. Apple seem to be behind and not allowing this for their customers which is rubbish!

Thank you for this information! I will be now canceling my Apple Fitness- subscription and looking for a different workout service as well! Terrible service from the greedy, Apple money making machine!

The reason I prefer using my iPhone is because I like the metrics it captures from my Apple Watch. If you use the iPad, does it still capture heart rate from the Watch?
