What can be done about a message (damaged Core Storage Users) when trying to install Big Sur OS?

I would boot from my USB installer or Recovery and open Disk Utility to make some First Aid checks. If the disk fails these, it may need to be erased and reformatted APFS and for the installation to include transfer of your user data from your Time Machine or other backup
