Do not pruchase the M1 MacBook Air for these intense design software packages — because the M1 AIr has no fan. Purchase the M1 MacBook Pro instead, which has a brighter screen, and a fan to cool it. As stated by others here, check with the respective vendors about their design software, and compatibility with Big Sur on Apple M1.

To clarify, not with boot camp, but with Parallels.

Do you have any evidence that Windows 10 will soon be available on M1 Macs via Parallels?

Like everyone else, I saw the beta version of Parallels running in the keynote. I’ve also heard rumours about Docker and other VM systems. But what the vast majority of people don’t understand is that these systems will not run Windows or Intel distributions of Linux. They will run ARM versions of Linux, but that’s not quite the same thing. There may also be emulated versions of Intel Linux available as there are a couple of such apps already for the iPad. But none of this is happening soon and none it will ever run AutoCAD.
