Do not pruchase the M1 MacBook Air for these intense design software packages — because the M1 AIr has no fan. Purchase the M1 MacBook Pro instead, which has a brighter screen, and a fan to cool it. As stated by others here, check with the respective vendors about their design software, and compatibility with Big Sur on Apple M1.

People are already running windows 10 on the M1 MacBook Air. It’s just not the “official” install.

That’s the ARM version of Windows. Apps are more likely to have native Mac M1 support than they are to have Windows on ARM support. When people talk about Windows, they mean all their Windows apps from years gone by. They absolutely don’t mean Windows on ARM - not ever. And it isn’t just “not official”, it’s flat-out illegal. People can do that on the internet, but no VM vendors can support it.

It is not impossible to have Intel Windows 10 in a VM running

on the M1 chip, although it would not be "virtualized" in yhe

true sense of the term. Back in the days of yore I was running

Windows NT and 2000 on a PowerPC Mac via emulation

with Virtual PC.

Now, how efficient modern OS like Windows 10 and associated

apps would work in emulation on an M1 remains to be seen.

As to how soon something would actually be available, well,

marketing and sales will always say "soon".
