I updated Apple TV HD to TVOS14.3 and Apple Watch 5 to watch OS 7.2 yesterday and tried the Fitness+ app on Apple TV and won’t work due to unable to pair Watch with Fitness+ app. I’ve always used my watch as a remote to control my Apple TV menu when my remote is misplaced. I’ve reset both the Apple TV and watch several times So I think there is a flaw in the software. Please help

Were you able to find any answers? Same issues with my watch as well. All devices updated. I can pair my watch as a remote, but the fitness+ app on the apple TV cannot find my watch with I open the fitness app on my watch.

My GF has a newer Apple TV bought a few weeks ago and my watch paired right away so I think the issue is the old chip hardware in the older versions of Apple TV. Basically I feel it’s a way for Apple to get folks to buy new Apple TV’s when their watches won’t sync with the fitness software.
i got the problem solved while working with the Apple tech. We did try restarting both, the watch and Apple TV, but that didn’t work for me (but maybe it will for someone else reading this). Part of my problem was that I was focused on the 4 steps to setting up my watch and it kept mentioning fitness app. So that’s the app I had opened up on my watch, but I couldn’t get passed step 2 which was choose your name/other on the Apple TV. At the bottom of the instructions it had “Note: You may need to open the Workout app on your Apple Watch before you can tap Connect.” Once I opened the workout app instead of the fitness app, there were several set up steps I had to complete before my name appeared on the screen (step 2). My feedback to Apple was to move that note higher in the instructions to help people who get stuck on step 2. I looked today and the note is now moved up to step 3. Hopefully, that will help someone else.

Very frustrating.
I just deleted my Apple Watch and reinstalled a backup. Worked straight away after that.
