A bug in FontBook causes the app to incorrectly show an installation failure pop-up window when multiple font files are selected. This issue wasn't observed on previous macOSes.
The install failure notice is followed by this message:
"Some unsigned or inactive fonts were found. Make sure if duplicates from the same filename are already present."

I know you don’t want to restore fonts to defaults, and this didn’t happen in a previous OS, perhaps this is a new OS bug, I’ve seen them before. Can you say the results of validating the fonts and/or replacing duplicate fonts?:

I've tried installing the fonts several times with no luck. I don't opt restoring back to defaults.
Bear in mind that the bug is not present on previous MacOSes.
I was prompted to check if the files do not contain the same file name.
Most importantly the font files must be valid.
The glitch usually occurs if multiple files and folders are selected.
True but I can't figure how to file a bug report.

Font Book is an integral part of whatever version MacOS you are using, so that is where you post the report.

Did you happen to restore the Fonts to defaults and try again?:
In the Font Book app 
on your Mac, choose File > Restore Standard Fonts.
