Final Cut Pro no sound on imported files

Hi :)

I just wanted to start editing a new video and Imported a video file, .mp4. But it had no sound!

The video has audio when I play it on desktop.

I searched and the result that worked was to change the name of my file to .mov instead.

I cannot do this for each file. I do not have the time to do this.

What could be the reason? And please help me fix it.

Final Cut Pro version is 10.5.1 and my MacOS is Big Sur.

I feet like crying!

FCP can’t import it while it’s on the drive. The files have to be download to a local drive.

Thank you for answering. They do open in QuickTime player. I will try what you suggested. Otherwise the picture bellow is the file info if it helps. :)

Does it open in the QuickTime player? If so you can select all the clips in the Finder, right-click and use Services to batch convert the files. Can’t really tell why this is happening without knowing anything about the files and their specs. MPEG-4 really doesn’t mean much.
