Re -Install 10.4.8 still possible?

I'm on a 27" iMac (Mid 2011) My OS is High Sierra 10.13.6, and my Logic Pro X is @ 10.4.8.

It's been working fine for many years, but recently in the past 6-months (=--) -- It's been glitchy

-- hit record with my intended track, and some / any other random track will activate with the Punch-in and Punch-out in random locations. Super frustrating.

So I thought I'd delete my APP and reload it, -- So is Logic Pro X 10.4.8 available? I am stuck at High Sierra so this is all the higher I can go. Thanks

Yes. I've installed it on a High Sierra partition just a few weeks ago.

Heck, I've even just installed v10.3.3 on my "antique" MacBook Pro 2008, limited to El Capitan. Works flawlessly.

Yes. That started a few weeks ago, and from what I can say from 1st-hand experience, some systems are more affected than others. I had no problems whatsoever on El Capitan, Sierra and High Sierra and Catalina. Download is currently broken on Mojave, although there was a "time window" when I was suddenly able to load v10.5.1 notheless. The App Store issue is reportedly already being investigated by Apple. Same for GarageBand download, for that matter.

Yep.

Most issues are with incompatible AU plugins or interface drivers, or sometimes preference file corruption.

No, you can't (at least there are a lot of users reporting that they cannot download a Logic version that is compatible with their older OS)

I'll repeat my mantra: reinstalling Logic never helps clearing issues. Better create a new fresh User account (System Preferences> Users & Groups) and run Logic from there, this might clear it up, and if it does you know it is "something" in your current user account causing the issue.

Also: how much free space do you have left on your system disk?

Yea, this is forcing me to buy a new iMac. Not a big studio upgrade mind you, just a swap for survival (albeit faster)

Looked seriously at the Mini, 16Gig 1TB -- the M1- but is still getting harsh reviews in the audio-studio bloggers, too new?

I can't dedicate my studio Mac to just Logic, I need other APPs on it, and there is the big problem...

  • There is a Youtube out there where a fella is testing the Mini with 8Gig, - has like a 1000 instances of Space Designer verb spread across 120 audio channels, and also 20 software sample/synths and 3 drummers, and that little mini worked perfectly.
  • I know that Logic Pro will work beyond expectations, but -- it's just all those 3rd party, and other APPs... too bad - too soon.

I'm looking at the 27" (mid 2020) 8-Core, Core i7, 16Gig, 1TB -> I'm sure this is going to force me to upgrade my DAW's i/o, an older Focusrite Saffire...

-- ugh, it seems like ever since 1991, with my Apple 2C, they now get me for about $2500 every 3 years or so.
