shattered iPhone 11 lens

I have had my iPhone 11 for almost a year and about a month ago I noticed my view through the viewfinder of my camera was blurry. I went to clean the camera lens and saw that is was covered in cracks. It had not been dropped or hit in any way that I can tell. I have now had to replace the phone at a cost of $399 plus fees....more than half the original cost of my phone. It is frustrating that the camera still works but the front of the lens was fragile enough to shatter for no apparent reason and cause me to have to replace the whole phone.

Hopefully if there is a known defect Apple will do something for the customer.
