"add border to image in preview"

If a search of Apple help pages comes up with no answer to this simple query, what is the point of having the program? What is the point of Apple creating a program no one knows how to work and don't have any help pages for??


Or is it like the new 'Shortcuts'? Where Apple create a programme and users have to find out for themselves it doesn't work with anything because there's hardly any supporting software for it??


A bit like inventing the chariot before the wheel had been invented.


Does anyone know how I find out how to apply a simple border to an image???

Use a photo editing program. Preview is not a photo editing program (or any editing for that matter). It is for viewing various file types--hence the name, "Preview," not "Edit."

Apple has rarely provided much information on using their apps. From the very first Macintosh, they've just expected people to play with the apps and figure out what they can do. There's a thirty-year old "Missing Manual" series dedicated to Apple's software.

However, if I select "Preview Help" from the Help menu in Preview, I get this:
