Apple Watch display is sideways after iPhone and iPad update to 14.3

My apple watch was updated over night to 7.2 and my iPhone and iPad were updated today to 14.3. Now the Apple Watch display is sideways when it on the charger. The buttons should be up and it’s sideways. Tried buttons down and it’s sideways. Very annoying. HELP.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

Hello there MIke-AZ,

Thanks for reaching out. We'd like to see how we can help with your Apple Watch. Having your watch working properly is key, so let's see how we can help.

We'd like to confirm that Nightstand Mode is not enabled.

You can check how to do that here: Add an alarm on Apple Watch

Specifically the section titled "Set up Apple Watch as a nightstand clock with alarm"

We look forward to your response.

Cheers.

I appreciate the reply, thanks, but no it was not Nightstand Mode. That was the problem, it would not go into Nightstand mode. The display was oriented the same direction as if I had it on my wrist but with huge numbers and not my watch face. I’m rather technical and have an Apple Watch which has been in Nightstand mode more than a thousand nights. Worked my way up to 3rd level tech support and got it solved.
