Old phone Apple Watch was connected to is broken and can’t be gotten into. How do I move the activation lock off my watch from the old, broken phone

How to pair my watch with my older iPhone. Newer iPhone i first paired it with is now broken and cannot be unpaired

my apple watch wont unpair, and the activation lock is on so I cant reset and erase it. I just got a new iPhone 15 and I went thru the whole transfer data thing and tried to set up my apple watch, but it stalled out during the process, and now my watch is paired to my old phone, but I cant seem to get the old phone to unpair the watch, and I cant get the new phone to pair the watch. I have a gen 1 Apple Watch that was paired to a iPhone that I lost. When I got my replacement iPhone and set it up it did not work correctly and now I can’t unpair my watch from the old phone to pair with the new one. I’m worried that if I just reset the watch without unpairing it’s will have the activation lock remain and I will brick it. Currently I can read the time and date but most of the other functions I used are not available.

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Go to Find Iphone.

Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.

Click Erase Apple Watch.

Select Next until the device is erased.

Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
