iPhone 12 Pro Max (256GB) no sound.

Often, I try to listen to a video and there’s no sound. I can get it around it by going into settings then changing the ringer volume but I sometimes have to do this multiple times a day.


Any ideas on a permanent fix?


It should be noted that I also own a pair of wireless Apple earphones and this happens with or without them. The phone indicates that I’m using the desired sound output, yet there is no sound.

We appreciate you getting back to us. There are three steps we would like for you to look at and make sure you don’t see anything un.


1 If Attention Aware Features are enabled, turn it off.  Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and turn off Attention Aware Features. If needed, see About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro


2 Check the settings for both Safari and YouTube. Go to Settings > Safari, and Settings > YouTube. If you question any settings you see, please feel free to ask. Just be sure not to include any of your personal information. 


3 Check the Privacy settings for these two apps and make sure they have permissions allowed. Go to Settings > Privacy > app name.


Reach back out if the sound still doesn’t work.

Thank you for choosing Apple Support Communities.


If we understand, you have sound when watching videos, but only after you go into the Settings and change the Ringer volume.


Does this happen with all apps you use to watch videos? If not, what apps is this happening with? What about the Apple TV app?


Does it happen when watching videos in all browsers? 


If you restart your iPhone following the steps found in Restart your iPhone, does it help, even if only for a little while?
