Hello,

You are right, the FS-4000DN is not listed as an AirPrint printer (the model appears to have been introduced before AirPrint).

I could only find older Mac drivers at https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.co.uk/en/support/downloads.html .

The FS-4000DN has parallel, USB, and Ethernet ports. It would probably be correct to assume that the printer is connected to a network (Ethernet). An FS-4000DN can work with several printer languages. So, if necessary, a generic driver (PostScript, PCL) may work well. Have a look at Add a network printer by its IP address in Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support if you want to carry out a test.

Also, a Kyocera FS-4000DN is mentioned in the Gutenprint list of drivers (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php). According to the Gutenprint home page, there had been installation problems under macOS Catalina. A revised version of the 5.3.3 package seems to be available, but I do not know whether this in any way would be compatible with macOS Big Sur or your computer. If you want to try this, look upon it as an experiment.

Hi,

Knowing the exact printer model would help. Depending on the specifications, there may be alternative ways of connecting the printer. If the printer is supporting the driverless AirPrint technology, it would be compatible with macOS without additional drivers. If at all available, drivers/software from a printer manufacturer may add functionality.
