Find Thunderbird profiles in hidden files in Time Machine Backup to external Hard Drive

Had the iMac reset to original by Apple and when loading Thunderbird I did not get back all saved emails. I need to find an older profile to put into new Thunderbird so I can get back the saved mail. The file is hidden in the TM backup. How do I find it and copy the older profile?

I have tried this but I can not open Thunderbird as I get a message thet profile is missing and it will not open. I went into TM backups and went back to a previous version of Thunderbird and restored - same message, profile is missing. I d/l a new version of Thunderbird and replaced old one - same message, profile is missing. I trashed everything Thunderbird I could find . d/ again and again same message.
