Second Monitor Screen Resolution Unavailable

Hello, I've recently upgraded to a Wacom Cintiq 22 and am trying to connect it as a second monitor/drawing tablet. The resolution for this device should be 1920 x 1080 but I am instead only capping at 1080p as the largest resolution option in the System Preferences/ Displays window.

Switching between Default and Scaled or using Option/Alt does NOT solve this issue.

I have done a PRAM reset, twice, but the result is the same.

I have even tried SwitchResX, to see if I could manually override the issue, but it does not correct anything. But it did give me insight that the correct resolution, while "Enabled", is not selectable for some reason.

This cintiq was tested on a Macbook Pro that had the new OS update, but I still was unable to select the correct resolution that I wanted, as it wasn't listed within the Display settings, even through the Option/Alt reveal.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point, I never had this issue with my Wacom Cintiq 13HD, so any insight will be very helpful.

Hi there Mirrrrrrrrchu,

You had mentioned that 1080p was one of the options you had. 1080p is 1920x1080. There may be another reason for the unclear picture on your external monitor. Have you tried another cable or adapter if you are using one? Since the Mac is working with your other external monitor that tells us that the issue is likely not with the Mac.

We hope this helps!

Hi there Mirrrrrrrrchu,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are concerned your external display is not getting the full resolution available. 1080p resolution is called “Full HD” and is 1920x1080 size. The device you are using is a 1080p device. Learn more about your device here: Cintiq 22HD Creative Pen Display

Thank you for your input. I'm fully aware that 1080p is "Full HD" and that my device is capable of 1080p. However, 1080p still appears 'fuzzy', this isn't my first rodeo with a Wacom device that has had a similar issue. It is just the case of getting the 1920x1080 size to be an available option within the Display scaled options.

Since setting the default does nothing to improve the situation; and again, Option/Alt does not show any sizes that I want or need.
