Strange audio echo on group FaceTime call
On a group FaceTime call with five members yesterday, when one member joined the call most of the rest of us heard his voice twice – once in sync with the video and a second time repeated slightly quieter about 2 seconds later, while one person only heard the delayed "echo" sound, after the video. He didn't hear his voice twice himself.
So we asked him to disconnect and called him again. This time, we each heard everyone else's voice twice, and also our own voices twice. This made conversation, obviously, impossible.
We were all using iMacs or Macbooks, no phones or iPads, and two of us are running Big Sur, the rest Catalina. The same group have used group FaceTime several times before with no problem.
This seems to be something different from the problem where you hear your own voice fed back via another participant's mic picking up sound from their speakers.
Anyone else had this problem? Any possible solution?
Cheers.
