The left side of the screen is not responsive (near the edges). I restored the phone and still not working. This seems to be a common issue for XS device. It seems that this problem occurred in Iphone X model as well.
Can this be fixed free of charge ? As this is definitely a manufacturer defect!

I'm not sure where you get the statistic this is a common issue. There are very few reports of such an issue here on the worlds most widely used forum about iPhone.
If your phone is within warranty, it will be covered under warranty if there is no visible damage to the phone. If the phone is outside of warranty, it won't be covered.
Is it within Warranty?
If yes then it may be repaired for free unless they find user damage such as a history of drop from height or water ingress.

That is for iPhone 10 however and it clearly states no other iPhone models are covered.

I took that to mean not 4,5,6,7,8,11,12 so not so clearly stated!
True, but if it included iPhone XS, Apple would have been very specific.
Iphone XS left side not responding - this issue seems to be common to other people
