I can't Upgrade macOS Sierra to High Sierra in Mac Pro 5.1 Mid 2010

Can Anyone Help

i am a new developer to xcode and need to upgrade to high sierra then Mojave after upgrading the graphic card but at least i need high sierra

I try everything

  • take backup first then erase the disk
  • i try fresh install from usb
  • using safe mode


every time installer said to install macOS High Sierra, a firmware update is required


i called and try apple support agent they try to do best but all solutions failed


and this is my hardware

  • i can't see boot menu when i press option key "i think its may cause of graphic card, is that normal?"
  • i can't access internet recovery by Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R every time mac runs built-in macOS Recovery system - i try that when i try to install fresh copy from internet but it's instal sierra again

If you cannot see boot screens then your graphics card is not a Mac Edition or 'flashed for mac'.

PC cards will work fine in macs but you will not see any boot screens and do not have access to

the Startup Manager.


Do you have the original graphics card that came with the mac, put that in do the firmware update

according to the instructions, upgrade to High Sierra.


Then when you are ready to upgrade to Mojave you can put the PC card back in.
