Turning off text mirroring

Is there a way to set a text conversation to Do Not Disturb on my phone but still get notifications on my Apple Watch? I had this setting previously but after a recent update they seem permanently synced. I have turned off mirroring on my watch app everywhere that I can find, but turning on do not disturb on a conversation from my phone still changed both.
