How do I share my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV screen?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro, replacing my old MacBook Air and want to connect it to my Sony TV for Zoom meetings. (as I have been doing with the MacBook Air) The HDMI cable connects fine, but only shows the desktop screen of the Mac on the TV, not anything I open, like Zoom or Safari. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be really appreciated. I'm not great with tech!

System Preferences > Displays. You can tick the box to mirror displays, your tv will show the same content as your Mac. If they’re not mirrored, you can just drag windows from the internal display to the TV.
