Image Capture Big Sur Canon MX350 Scanning

Hi

My older Canon MX350 prints ok from my new Mac mini using Big Sur, however I'm unable to persuade Image Capture to scan with it. It worked fine with Catalina on my old Intel Mac mini.

Apple offered device is incorrect. It's an M1 Mac mini with OS 11.0.1

Any thoughts most welcome.

Thanks

Click on this link to the Canon support site for your product.

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx350.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=macos%2011.0%20(big%20sur)

Make sure the operating system is set to macOS 11.0 Big Sur

You will see your printer is no longer supported, it was last supported in Mac OS X !0.10 Yosemite.

You are lucky it is still printing, it may never scan in Big Sur, you could check out Vuescan

https://www.hamrick.com to see if it has drivers for your printer/ scanner and Big Sur,

it is a paid app.

Well as you can see from my link it has not been supported for a long time and therefore you have been fortunate

it worked for so long.

When upgrading to a new OS you cannot take it for granted that your hardware and third party apps

will work with it and you must research before upgrading.

Have you tried to scan through System Preferences> Printers & Scanners> Scan

Have you tried the Canon software for printing and scanning.

I did mention Vuescan have you had a look.

Companies like Apple and Canon are in the business of selling hardware so

don't be surprised when upgrades appear that items you own no longer

function.
