SuperDrive with MacBook Air
I plug in the SuperDrive into a USB with an adapter. I insert a DVD but it doesn't start. I can't find the SuperDrive listed as connected in Finder.

Presumably you mean a USB-C-to-A adapter, but specifically what adapter? Generally, docks/hubs don’t work and nor do some adapters, because the SuperDrive needs nearly twice the current of a standard USB-A device. Apple’s adapter should work (I haven’t tried it). I use a little dongle from nonda (Amazon link) and my SuperDrive works fine with 6 Macs in the house (two are 2019 MBAirs).
