Unable to have spotify sound on apple tv 4k with personal hotspot internet access

Hi

I've connected the apple tv to internet via my iphone's personal hotspot, then when I want to stream music from my iphone's spotify to the apple tv via Airplay, the image of the music piece appears on the TV but with no sound.

HDMI sound and video connection works as netflix streaming from apple tv to TV is ok
latest firmware on apple tv and Iphone,
tried rebooting both and and resetting from scratch the apple TV

Has anybody had a similar experience and has a solution?

Thanks for those details.

If you can test using Wi-Fi on the Apple TV instead of the hotspot, that may help isolate the issue. The Spotify link we provided also has other options for using Spotify on the Apple TV.

I connected the apple tv to a wifi connection and after rebooting the apple tv I managed to have spotify sound via iphone - airplay- apple TV - TV.

Changing again to the personal hotspot, it did not sound (the spotify music progression appears on the TV showing that the connection is there)

On an other point, the connection to different wifi access points in the apple TV is not stable: on the setup menu - network - Wifi, the available networks do not always refresh and need to restart the apple TV

Thanks for letting us know. Since this is just happening with Spotify, we suggest reaching out to their support to see if there is a required setting or connection speed to get the audio to work.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I am able to hear and view images with netflix or youtube.

While using spotify, I see the title and progression bar but no sound.

Once I managed to get sound after reboot of both phone and apple TV but did not last (a couple of hours later after turning on tv and sound system).

Everything works fine with an older 3rd gen. apple TV

Is the reason that I use the personal hotspot?
