Unable to connect printer in Big Sur

My Canon Pixma ip2850 was working correctly with Big Sur until I shared it with another Mac. Now the printer seems to be associated with the name of the other computer but is not recognised any more by my Mac. I have completely reset the printing to remove all existing printers but the name of my printer no longer appears when I try to add it after the reset. The name of the printer is now associated with the identity of the other Mac- and I can add that new printer name on my Mac provided the other Mac is on-line but it is not found when I try to print to it. The other Mac can print to my Canon if it is plugged in directly via USB. How can I completely de-install the printer on my Mac to eliminate the association with the other Mac and then re-install it?

Note: I also have a Canon scanner and that is recognised and installed correctly.

Mac mini 2018 or later

Found the answer- which may help anyone else with the same problem.

Remove the printer from the list of printers on the computer with which it was shared.

Open printer selection in System Preferences.

Discover there is now no printer listed at all.

Plug printer into a standard USB port instead of a USB-C port.

Printer suddenly appears and works.

Plug printer back into USB-C port. Still works.

Weird things- printers.
