Ok, You managed to enable Voice Control in System Preferences : Accessibility : Voice Control, and switched on Overlay : Item Numbers. This will put numbers on your menu items. You can turn this distraction off by choosing the following and selecting None, or turning of Voice Control entirely.
In any application, if I use the menu at the top of the page and click on it, the drop down menu is numbered. I have not found the automatic numbering a problem elsewhere. Small problem, but it bothers me and I would like to get rid of it. A google search did not come up with a solution. Thanks.
You need to be much more specific. I find it hard to believe that in the Mail app for example it automatically numbers every line of text.
Thanks. I did as you suggested and found that in Voice Control, Overlay was already set on none and not on numbering. Then I unchecked voice control and that of course solved the problem. However voice control can be quite useful and it would be nice to have access it.
OK. When I am in any application( ie Safari, Mail, Contacts, Calendar, News, Podcasts etc) when I go the top of the screen to the options ( ie file, edit or other specific choices of that application) the dropdown menu invariably is automatically numbered. Otherwise the automatic numbering seldom happens ( at least so far).
Every list in what application?
