Personally, I think it is not realistic to expect new technology like Apple Fitness+ to work with an older TV box. Nor do I expect a Samsung device like the Sero that I purchased to work as magnificently with an iPhone as it would with a Samsung Galaxy phone. Samsung wants to sell Samsung phones so it makes sense that they would not make the effort to make the Sero fully compatible with other brands, including other Android phones. As for everyone beating up on Apple because they launched a new technology that isn't compatible with older technology, this is a company that historically is very good with supporting older hardware *until* doing so would prevent the evolution of new technology. It's not just Apple -- all the companies do it. So I do not get people's beef -- especially now that Apple has introduced a software upgrade for the Apple app built-in to your smart TV that will allow it to run Apple Fitness+ without the metrics from your watch. The question is: Is Apple Fitness+ a good enough product to meet your expectations and cause you to upgrade your hardware? For me, it is.
