Screen mirror fitness + workout on Samsung tv

I subscribed to Apple fitness . I have Apple TV app on Samsung TV but fitness does not show up there. I tried screen mirroring from my iPhone. I can see the preview no problem but when I try to take a class in screen mirror mode it only plays the audio. The video portion is black. Am I doing something unsupported?

Am I doing something unsupported?

Currently, Fitness+ on the TV screen requires an Apple TV set-top box with the Fitness app (not the Apple TV app).

I get where you are coming from. My reality is different. Apple Fitness+ presents far greater value to me than the other two subscription services that I have (Les Mills On Demand = $300 CAD tax in; Peloton = $300 CAD tax in). I have to admit that I love Les Mills classes but the digital version lacks the high fidelity quality of the Apple Fitness+ app and the variety of durations for class lengths. As for Peloton, their workouts are geared towards elite athletes and I find that they are not as safe as Les Mills or Apple Fitness+. Apple Fitness+'s library of classes needs to build to compete with the other two but I still find it to be better value -- hence why buying an Apple TV box (and getting Apple TV+ free for a year) is the right option for me. I get and respect that it isn't for you.

Same problem. Was very excited to use apple fitness+ on my TV, especially ow we are in a national lockdown and gyms/pools are closed.

I’ve taken up the 3 months free access, definitely won’t be renewing it when it expires. Pay for a watch, pay for a phone, pay for an iPad....and then pay £10 for fitness+ which can’t be used on a screen of my choice.

if only we all had the salary of Apple executives and then buying a brand new Apple TV wouldn’t be a problem! 🙄 🤔

I was so excited to get this started and am stunned that I could not mirror on my tv. I mean it’s crazy that everything else can be mirrored but they don’t allow this. Today I tried my first class on the app and I absolutely loved it! However, I won’t renew after my free 3 months because I can’t do it on my small phone. I’ll just go back to doing free YouTube classes. I hope they change this as a lot more people will love it. I loved the class but watching on my phone or iPad is just too small for a workout.

I totally get where everyone is coming from as I was also disappointed that I couldn’t screen mirror or use AirPlay. But I think we all need to lodge complaints with Apple rather than just cancelling subscription and not saying anything to Apple. I have already lodged a complaint. If we all stand together and complain Apple will hopefully fix the issue

Its a deal breaker for me. I love apple products and would love to have been able to play fitness on my Samsung TV (which has Apple TV installed) but it just doesn't work. I don't need to buy an Apple TV 4K and don't want to just for fitness and so the fitness app will go. I'll go back to YouTube instead.

If Apple fix this then I'll probably try again, until then, they ain't getting money out of me for an inferior service.

Having exactly the same problem and Apple expect me to buy an AppleTV for £200 after already buying the MacBook, Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad absolute joke and will cancel my fitness plan and go back to beach body

Apple doesn't "expect" you to do anything. You can use Fitness+ on your iPad or iPhone. However, if it doesn't meet your needs, you should definitely cancel it.

Sounds like a good plan. Irrelevant to anyone reading here but a good plan nonetheless.

Thanks for the relevant comment! I also make a great quiche if you ever want to enjoy one while trying to get fitness+ working on your Samsung tv.

It works fine on my Samsung TV. Of course, that could be because I have an Apple TV connected to it. If the quiche should happen to involve leeks, I'd be happy to partake.

Points are awarded by fellow users (with minor exceptions). And primarily by the original poster of a question. The OP has the ability to give one "Solved" and two "Helpful" awards. They are worth 10 and five points respectively. If the OP never awards a "Solved", the Hosts (Apple employees) may mark a post as "Apple recommends". I don't remember how many points you get for that (7?). And, if enough other people tap the "Helpful" button below your post, you get some points. I don't think that happens very much, though. Someone did the math once and the percentage of solutions that actually get a "solved" is quite low. Participate here because you enjoy it.
