Since upgrading from Mojave to Catalina, none of my Microsoft suite of applications work. All now show a circle and line through the app icons that are still visible on my access bar. It wants to me to download Microsoft 365, which is a pay service, vice continuing to use the apps that are on my PC and that I originally purchased with this Mac as a suite. Also, my system says it is up to date, but is stuck at OS Catalina. Help?
Update your third party software—
the App Store apps will require you to subscribe to Microsoft 365. Buy from Microsoft: directly:
Office for Mac running macOS Catalina
If you have Office 2011 for Mac or before WILL NOT run, For Catalina Office 2016 for Mac needs to be v15.35 or later.

Big Sur—Microsoft recently announced that it was officially ending support for Office 2016 for Mac on October 13, 2020. Apple Silicon compatibility in Office 2016 is questionable.

The current Office for Mac; Office 365 or Office 2019 (One-time purchase) are OK with Catalina/Big Sur
