Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

After about an hour of angrily scouring the web, i found that if you have a limited amount of funds left on an iTunes gift card (i had £6.92) and the app you re buying is slightly more (Numbers, £6.99) then your bank will not allow iTunes to make such a small purchase (7p), which is why it declines. I would guess this applies up to a certain figure (obviously less than 59p) but i don't know what that is. So what i did was buy something else i wanted first to a value of 69p, and then the bigger purchase and it worked. Thankfully i only sat here re-entering my CC details about 12 times before i found this out! So it's not Apple's fault people, it's a bank thing. Spread the word!

Hi all,

I'm experiencing the same thing. I have an iPhone 4 and I'm now setting up my iPad 2. I'm downloading apps and it's asking me to verify the security code of my card. Then after filling out the form, it says "Your payment method was declined."

I'm now clueless in how to fix it. I logged out and logged in but it didn't work. I understand there are hundreds of replies but do you guys already know how to solve this?

I'd appreciate it if you can shoot me a reply.

Thanks!

I'm so sorry to ask this, but have you figured it out? I got the same problem too.

I had bought a lot of apps before and poof! one day i can't buy a thig with the "Billing problem at the previous purchase." reason. I tried to fix it, checked each column wheater i missed a mistake there, but none. It's been two months now.

And i a'm kinda hate apple for this.

Maybe i shouldn't use apple at the first place and so on.

Can you help me before i start cursing on apple?

Thanx..

Much obliged.

No, i sent an email to itunes support, but the first reply was all what i had already read here...they didn't say to me something new.

I tried to do all again as they told me...the result was the same. I CANNOT BUY nothing from itunes.

I cannot understand why they didn't do really something for that? i dont have only me this problem, many people have the same problem.

I have MacBook and the iPhone and i cannot work well with this expencive laptop and phone.

So, i fixed it!

I was really mad but finally, the problem was to my credit card! I tried a lot with Apple and iTunes. Then i decided call to my bank, and yeah the problem was there finally! They had block my card for some stupid reason, and there was the problem with my itunes account!

So, be sure...but real sure for your credit card that there is no any problem! I mean, my card looked great, i mean there was many money but the bank for an other stupid reason blocked my card.

When they informed me that they unblocked my card, after one min i could finally use my itunes account well!

Well I fixed the problem, and it has obviously todo with your spending limit, for credit cards which aren't automatically impacted when a purchase is made, you can get the impression that everything is sound with your card, but just in case, I strongly advise everyone who faces the issue to call the credit card company and most probably there will be an issue with the card.

I was well advised by Apple Support, promptly and efficiently.

Good luck 😉

Hello,
The problem happens to appear in Europe, too, in Bulgaria where I live. I got my credit card from a Bulgarian bank (not using an US account), I have all my information filled in correctly but yet this message continues to appear. I'm running out of patience and I'd be really thankful if anyone recommends anything that can help.
Thanks in advance 🙂

Had the same issue. Tried using some of the above methods, but nothing helped. Neither signing out, choosing "None" as the payment option, waiting, changing cards, countries.

I was starting to think, that this is some kind of fraud protection used by Apple. I'm from Lithuania and all of my cards are from Lithuanian banks. But currently I live in the UK. So I thought that iTunes/Apple is preventing from using Lithuanian credit card information for someone who is based in the UK and might have gotten the cards' information using illegal methods.

However, this was not the case. It turns out, that the bank has asked me to sign up each of my credit card for some sort of Visa Online Security Program. Having failed to do so in time, I was ineligible to make any online purchases with them. So I signed up for the program via online banking and iTunes imediately accepted my card.

I know this is probably not the case for most of you, but you might check this option as well.

Thanks a bunch! That solved it for me.

I removed the old card info from the account (set payment method to "None").

Then set up the "Verified by VISA" online purchase security.

Waited approximately 20 minutes and re-entered my new card information in the account settings.

Worked like a charm. Awesome.

Thank you!
