Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

I have encountered this problem and it has left me increasingly annoyed. Due to my own personal change in banking I came to update my account only to have it declined. After trying to revert back to my previous card that was also declined and now I am left with using none. I have emailed apple after getting annoyed with the automated phone support service. Keyboard sound effects Apple, really? That doesn't say billion dollar company.

What is the point of religiously purchasing Apple hardware when the very spine of it is this now flawed account? If I cannot rectify this soon Apple will be getting no more custom from me purely because they have physically declined me from doing so.

It really is about the money you have sat in your bank account. I had the same issue even though i only wanted to download free apps. i had around £1.60 in my account and as soon as i transfered £10 to my main account everything worked well and i could download the app without a problem. This is def stupid system to have certain amount of money in bank account only if I want to download free stuff. So ppl make sure you have some money sat in your bank account if you want to download anything. This trully *****!

I got a same issue here too!!! Geez... I just bought only 0.99 stuff in iTunes, My bank called me payment is though! But iTunes is keep giving me this sentence [Your payment method was declined]


I had sign in & sign out from apple ID, and change credit card, and create a new acc. again... etc! And Email to iTunes support!!! I have no idea what can I do now. Sob sob... :'(

Well I fixed the issue for myself. I simply transferred £100 into my current account of the debit card that I wanted to use. That let me add it without it being declined! Surprise, surprise.

This was after two days of getting nowhere with the email support from iTunes however. They sure do like explaining every single click of a mouse to add a card yet they refuse to accept that the error is theirs!

I think that Apple is not being forthright about why this is happening. I suspect that the real reason why this keeps happening to so many of us has nothing to do with our credit cards or account information and more to do with a security measure on Apple's part. For instance, if i purchase something from one of my previous Apple products using the exact same information then it works without a hitch. But on my newest ipad(this will is my third - I've had two computers, at least two ipones, and more than three ipods) i cant solve the issue. And Ive tried all these 'solutions' as well. I've even called Apple and the guy was ' at a lost'. My conclusion - once again Steve is trying to control everything from the grave but he doesn't want us to STOP BUYING APPLE PRODUCTS.

I'm suffering from the same problem, I've got 5 updates to install, and I've checked, double, triple and quadruple checked that my billing info is correct and it is, but it keeps replying with "Your payment method was declined. Please select another payment" It's very annoying and it isn't the first time, I thought it was a problem with my wi-fi at work but it isn't, they need to sort this out, I've been suffering for over a week now, it needs sorting!

Hi Atul_jain,


It is located next to the visa and masterd card options (at least is where i have it).


1. Select "none" - I supose maybe is named as "none" (I have it in spanish -ninguno-).


2 . Save the settings. In my case I have "terminar" (finish or done button I guess).


3. Register again your payment method.



Hope it helps. It works for me every time that I have this issue.

This happens when you have a few dollars left on your credit card. When you purchase an app it takes some time for the money to get off the card. By that time you still have the same money on the card and you can try to buy another app. This is where the billing problem arises. Your next app that you tried to buy is purchased and will be charged after you put enough money for the both apps on your card. After that charge the billing problem will vanish. Hope this helps. 😉
