Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

Change your information online at http://store.apple.com/sg. I'm from Singapore so it is sg. So go to the online store of your region, log in and change your information from there instead of through iTunes. It works for me. This way you can actually set and save your payment methods instead of setting another account or choosing the "None" payment option which effectively disallow any purchases as you do not have any payment method set. Apparently this problem is caused by a iTunes bug(or so I read), so you will face the same problems trying to set your payment methods via iTunes regardless of your devices(Laptops, ipad, iphones, etc). Thus, by going to the online store site, you can avoid the bug and set your payment method.

Hi Reji,

Thank you for contacting us. My name is Don and I am your iTunes Store Advisor. I hope you are doing fine.

I understand that you are unable to use your Visa card to download an item from the iTunes Store. I know how important it is to have this matter resolved immediately. I assure you that I will do everything I can to provide you with all the information you need regarding this matter.

Reji, it appears that the iTunes Store was unable to verify an authorization from your credit card company. There are several possible reasons for this:

1. Your credit card company's servers have been busy. Consider trying again at another time.

2. There is an issue with your card. Consider using a different card or contacting your credit card company to advise them of the problem.

3. Your iTunes Store account information does not match the information on file with your credit card company. The billing name and address you enter must exactly match your credit card company’s records. A discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation, or capitalization could prevent you from purchasing from the iTunes Store. Consider checking your credit card statement or contacting your credit card company to make sure their records are up to date. For more information, visit:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646

You can confirm or update your iTunes Store account information by visiting:

http://appleid.apple.com/

If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the flag icon in the lower-right corner of the page, then select your country from the next page.

To confirm or update your account information, follow these steps:

1. Click "Manage your Apple ID".

2. Sign in with your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID).

3. Click Addresses in the left column.

4. Confirm or edit your information.

5. Click Phone Numbers on the left. Make sure the area codes and phone numbers are entered correctly in their respective fields.

6. Click Save Changes.

Once your information is updated, try placing an order on the iTunes Store again. If we're still unable to obtain an authorization, you may need to update your billing information with your credit card company's records or in their verification system.

If you would like to contact your bank or credit card company to try to resolve the issue, here are some steps that you can follow:

1. Ask to speak with the fraud/security department.

2. Tell the fraud/security representative that your security code is being rejected. Ask them to review your account to see what might be preventing you from using the card to purchase from the iTunes Store. Ensure that they thoroughly review your account until they locate and resolve what is causing the issue.

3. The bank or credit card company will need to remove any holds on your account.

Once the bank has resolved your issue, the card should work with the iTunes Store.

If you are still unable to complete your purchase with a credit card after following the above steps, you may wish to use an iTunes Store Gift Card for your purchases. Gift cards are available at many retailers, including the Apple Store.

You can redeem an iTunes Gift Card by following the instructions under the "I have an iTunes Store account" heading in this article:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1574

I hope that the information that I have provided to you has been of great help. For clarifications or any other questions that you may have, please know that we are just an email away. We will be very pleased to help you out.

Enjoy the rest of your day, Reji!

Sincerely,

Don

Thanks for choosing Apple.

Hi Reji,

Thank you for wiring back to me. This is Nani again.

In order to see the billing address on your account, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to Apple's My Info page: http://appleid.apple.com

2. Choose your country and preferred language from the pop-up menus.

3. Enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click Log In (or Continue).

4. At the My Info Welcome page, click Address Book on the left.

On the next page, you should be able to see the billing address on your account. You can also confirm or edit your information if necessary.

I would also suggest for you to update your contact details (if necessary) by clicking Phone Numbers on the left. Make sure the area codes and phone numbers are entered correctly in their respective fields.

Once the details are correct, click Save Changes.

After making sure the information are updated, try placing an order on the iTunes Store. If the iTunes Store still cannot obtain an authorization for your card, you won't be able to make purchases at the iTunes Store with that particular card. You can use a different card or any other payment method that is available in your country.

I hope the information I’ve provided has helped in resolving the issue you are reporting. Please don't hesitate to respond to me if I can be of any further assistance with your iTunes Store account.

Thank you for contacting/choosing iTunes Store!

Sincerely,

Nani

I know why this is happening Apple takes £1.58 from your credit card this problem happens to me as I have a prepaid debit card and provider sent me this Osper Alert - Your transaction at Itunes.Com/Bill for £1.58 was declined because there was only £0.36 on your Osper Card. All companies do this then afterwards refund your money, God knows why

I Have plenty of money in my account, I use PayPal, but it still says it is declined even though I use the correct information it would still say it. I tried several different cards, still said the same thing and they too had enough money in them, I thought about what the rest of you said on here and it kind of matches but what doesn't is the money amount problem so that's not the case. Which means that it may be because of me using two systems, an iPad and iPhone, on the same Apple account but that can't be right either because it was working just fine until I ordered a replacement PayPal card, that's when everything went to the pits, for some reason the App Store started acting like my original card was cancelled several weeks before its expiration and this just happened to take place the same day of ordering a new card? If this is an error in their system it's really foolish and ignorant of the consumers, if they would only listen then they would be losing customers for such a *snarks* I dare say a shity reason, right? Excuse my language it's not meant to be offensive im just getting the point across.
