Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem with my account.

I had initially a PrePaid Card for purchases, but then I tried to switch to a normal Credit Card (Mastercard) it kept saying "payment was declined".

Then I though of trying to update the payment info through the IPhone Store App.

Found a free app, and when I tried to download it, it asked me to verify my payment info.

That's when I was able to add my new Credit Card instead of the Prepaid.

Hope this works for you too!

1. Check your address and zipcodes to make sure they are the same as on your bank statement

2. If you recently changed your computer or downloaded itunes to a new computer. Basically if you authorized two computers it is very likely that you will have this problem. Just go to your old computer deauthoritize the computer and REMOVE Itunes from that computer. Then go to your new computer and edit your itunes account payment info.

3. Check if you have any un-paid balance amount from your account. If it is present iTunes Store wont accept any cards and also it don’t let to buy free apps too.

4. If it is very emergency make the payment using iTunes gift cards iTunes Gift Cards are easy to give, and you can buy them from Apple and from thousands of other retailers in a range of denominations. And every card works in the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store, or toward an Apple Music membership.

I had the same issue for about 3 weeks, the app store did not let me download any app telling me that there was a problem with my previous purchase, then I change my billing info to another card and it say that it was not valid. Plus, it didn't give the option of "none" so I had to put something. I tried and tried and nothing.... So I ereased my address and my phone number in the billing info and rewritten them again with my new card info and it worked.

I actually contacted iTunes Support and they gave me the solution in less than 2 hours. It is quite simple actually:

On your phone go to: Settings/iTunes & App Store/Apple ID/View Apple ID. Once inside your Account select Payment Information. There select None and press Done.

Once you're done that will delete your previous info from the system and clear out every possible error.

Go back to your Account and select the desired Payment Type. Fill up the requested information and make sure everything is exactly as it was when you created your bank card (Family Name, Given Name, Address...etc). Press Done and hopefully your problem will be solved.

Hope it helps! Have a nice day!

I found another temporary solution that works!!!

I had the same problem. All details correct, more than enough money on my bank account but it still wasn't good enough for them. And the weird part is that I've used this card heaps of times for purchases on app store. And since all I wanted to do was to be able to download free apps I came up with a temporary solution that might work for you guys too. I just changed my method of payment to "none", which means I didn't need to put in any card details that could be declined. And that worked!!! All of a sudden I could download free apps again without needing anything else except for my itunes password. I definitely recommend you guys to try it. 🙂 Best of luck to all of us that has unnecessary issues with apple 😉

I'm been having this same issue with my account for the past few days on my 5s. It's driving me crazy because the app updates are piling up on my phone & it won't let me update them!! I don't know where everyone is seeing the "none" option for credit card info, because when it tells me i have to update my credit card info, there is NO "none" option; just visa, mastercard, amex, discover. As in on my iphone there's not a "none" option.

It's driving me crazy what else can i do???? I've tried 3 cards, all 3 get declined & I've never had this issue before!!
