Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

same problem here.

I was using a paypal account to purchase apps for more than a year and songs for a few years, and now all of a sudden iTunes will not confirm Paypal, MC or Discover.

Setting up a Paypal account seems fine from Paypal's end, as I get confirmations of the autopayment with iTunes, but in the iTunes, it declines it.

I have filed a complaint/issue with Apple via the Apple.com website and got confirmation of the submission via email. But I have not heard back from them within the promised 48 hours for feedback. It's been more than 3 days now.

This is ridiculous. How does Apple not have an answer for this?? I bought my iPhone 3GS on Friday and was able to download free and paid apps without any problems until Sunday morning (8/29). Then, all of a sudden Sunday night, I get a message that my payment method had been declined. I double-checked the info, tried any possible card I own (including bank debit card), and NOTHING works. It just keeps telling me "Your credit card was declined. Please try another payment method."

I have called my bank and my credit card companies, and none of them know of any issues. They also don't see any declined authorization requests. Hence, this must be an Apple problem!

I have also double-checked the billing address and tried every possible variation, with no luck. NOTHING WORKS... not even downloading free apps!!

My iPhone has become completely useless. If I wanted a phone without apps, I would have bought a Nokia!

CAN SOMEBODY FROM APPLE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS??? I have e-mailed customer service, but so far no response, and I am afraid that once they do respond, I just get their standard "we're sorry. we're working on it." e-mail...!

Esterday... from Apple Support.

In order to fix this problem we are going to need to completely remove the credit card information using your device and then add it back on the same device. Here is a set of simple instructions that will show you how to get
the credit card removed from your account using your iPhone:

1. Open Settings on your iPhone

2. Scroll down and select "Store"

3. Select "View Account"

4. You will see a prompt telling you that you need to sign in. Hit continue and enter your account name and password in the next window that pops up.

4. Select the section that shows what credit card you have on file

5. You will be brought to a screen that shows your credit card information and your billing information. Tap the Credit Card and set it to "None"

6. Hit Done.

Once the credit card information is removed, follow these simple steps to add the credit card back to the account using your iPhone:

Tap whichever option your credit card is (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)

6. This will then open up the option to add your credit card number, security code and expiration month and date. Fill out the information and hit Done.

Hopefully now, we should have this all taken care of. I trust this shouldn't be a problem for you anymore. However, if you need any additional clarification or just have questions about what we have done here, Please let me know. I'd be glad to go over this further with you.

P.S. I did it, but... nothing. =(

This problem has appeared in several posts. I am having the same problem with PayPal and credit cards. I cannot download free applications or purchase apps. I deleted my credit cards, deleted my link to PayPal all with the same problem. The only solution I recommend for everyone to do is email Apple Support here:

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html?form=account&topic=iTunes%20Sto re%20Account%20and%20Billing&subtopic=Managing%20your%20Account

Lets hope they get this fixed soon!

Apple service is terrible. I wish I'd never gotten started with iTunes. Not only will it not accept my card, I purchased a gift card and it won't let me redeem that. And since the iPod assigned to the account died, I don't have my serial number to even reach support online. Added to the fact that they don't like to work very often in customer support. In short, even when you prepay they won't let you buy songs
