Weird sound when recording videos on my iPhone X

Hello! I recently got this phone from a family member that got a newer version, so they gave me their X. I never noticed this problem before but whenever I record videos they seems to have this weird noise in the video and it cuts out all other audio in the video. The noise sounds like the sound a stovetop makes when you just turn on the gas and it needs to light. The loudness of it depends on the video, but it’s in every single video I have recorded in the regular camera app, but not in any apps I got in the AppStore. I just updated my phone yesterday but it’s still making the noise when I record videos, and I’ve tried restarting it and checking out my audio/camera settings to no avail. I don’t know what to do now other than get it looked at by a phone repair person.

Hey Sarynnah!

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. After reading your post, we understand that there is an audio anomaly in videos recorded using the Camera app that does not occur when using third party apps. We're happy to help!

Based on what you've told us, it sounds like the microphone and audio are working in all apps except the Camera app. Given that information, we'd suggest using the steps outlined in If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support to troubleshoot the Camera app itself.

You may also want to double check the microphone, which you can do with the Apple Support article If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support.

Have a wonderful day!
