My friend has her boyfriends apple ID on her phone as they shared the same ID but he has changed the password and cant remove the ID and what's it gone so she can create her own

When she tries to sign out it is requiring she enter in the password for his Apple ID? If so, only way to remove it is to contact him and ask he remove the iPhone from his account at https://www.icloud.com/find
