Duplicate contacts in iCloud following Big Sur upgrade

Following upgrade to Big Sur on an iMac all my contacts and groups in iCloud have been duplicated. How to resolve?

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 11.1

Thanks, I did. What threw me off was the statement:


Before you begin


As I did see the condition in iCloud, I tried to find a way to contact Apple Support, which of course did not work.


However, it turned out that this was a useless statement as the ordinary functionality:


Look for Duplicates.


Worked perfectly ! Problem solved.
