Trouble activating Apple Card

I tried a few times over the course of two days to activate my new Apple Mastercard. Each time I hold the iPhone close, I get the message that reads: CANNOT ACTIVATE CARD. Apple card services are currently unavailable. Please try again later. However, I noticed this morning that my monthly subscription to Apple Music has been charged to the new Apple card. Does that mean the card is activated? Is there a contact phone number I can call to ensure the card is activated and ready to use whenever I need it?

You have only the digital wallet account setup properly (charged your Apple Music); but your physical Apple Card is not activated.

You should call: Goldman Sachs at 877-255-5923 to activate the physical card (titanium Mastercard).

I spoke w/ someone at Goldman Sachs and was told they cannot activate the Apple Card. The entire process is done inside the iPhone. It works digitally because they charged my monthly Apple Music subscription, but the physical card appears to be useless.
