Fitness+ and the apple tv app on roku

I did some research before I decided to go ahead and subscribe to fitness+. In doing this research I discovered that I could stream all of the fitness+ preview videos to my roku using airplay. This sold me on subscribing to fitness+. However, once I started using the service I discovered that the actual workout videos do not stream via airplay, so I am stuck trying to workout while watching a tiny iphone screen instead of watching my 72 inch TV in my workout room. Will Apple make it possible to stream the actual workout videos via airplay?

I got 6 months free with my Apple Watch and I’m certainly not going to actually pay for this if I can’t cast it to my TV. how stupid. As if Apple products aren’t expensive enough, they have to make it harder for those of us who don’t choose to have every single device in our home Apple branded?

I have tried this. I bought (from Apple) the lightning to HDMI adapter and connected my iphone directly to my tv. Still no go. It seems like its going to work, the TV shows the preview, and this photo of the workout, it even shows the 3-2-1 countdown green circle, then when the workout starts the tv screen goes dark. My next attempt will be to try the lightning to vga adapter.

Well... no luck. The lightning to VGA adapter didn't work either. The same as the lightning to HDMI adapter - you can see the preview videos, and it seems like the actual workout video is going to work - you can see the green 3 second countdown ring on the TV, but then the TV goes dark. I will not be continuing my subscription for this service.

You need an TV HD or TV 4K to use Fitness+.

The preview videos are not interactive so it can be streamed.

What you need:

You need an Watch. Apple Watch personalizes your Apple Fitness+ experience by integrating your personal metrics, like your heart rate and the calories you burn, into every workout. It brings them to life on the screen to keep you informed and motivated. To use Apple Fitness+ on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, an Apple Watch Series 3 or later is required.

Have you tried this with fitness+? I have tried mirroring my iphone thru the iphone control panel and I could not mirror the workout videos. I could mirror all sorts of other stuff - photos, youtube, the fitness+ preview videos... Pretty much anything but the actual workout videos.

Also, in researching the mirror for roku app, I see that there is some latency (delay) when mirroring. Does this affect the workout videos?

I'm sorry, but I don't have any suggestions. I have tried all sorts of mirroring, airplaying, streaming, casting methods. I have also purchased the lightning to HDMI, and lightning to VGA adapters (over $40 each, but I returned them). I don't think there is a way to stream from the iphone to the smart tv or streaming player (roku, etc). Apple wants you to buy the Apple TV box. Oh well, not me. Let me know if you figure out a method.

Dude chill they didn’t demo airplay did they? No fitness plus is interactive with the watch and your phone iPad etc. It works great. The service price is low for the amazing content you get and it’s based on an expectation that many customers will want to buy an Apple TV. This is how Apple works why is this a surprise to people!
