Macbook a1432 Mid-2010 7.1 (2.aGHz) & Prohibitory Sign

I recently bought a pre-loved Macbook a1432 Mid-2010 (2.4GHz) and it has been working fine.

All of a sudden it won't turn on without the power cord connected and after loading the progress bar I get the prohibitory sign. The screen also has a light blue tint.

I understand the prohibitory sign apparently means the operating system on the startup disk can't be used but I'm not why all of a sudden this is an issue or what is causing it.

I haven't tried to update the software or anything like that. Used it yesterday, shut it down when I was done and then a few hours later wouldn't startup.

I tried to start the Macbook in recovery but it gets stuck on the Wifi list and doesn't seem to actually connect to my home internet.

I also tried a bootable installer USB and chose it as the startup disc but still got the prohibitory sign.

Not sure if this makes a difference but I'm not 100% what OS it had installed before this. I think maybe Yosomite? I remember The person I brought the Macbook from commented to "update the software further it would need a patch" or something along those lines.

Any help would be appreciated.

A1432 is showing up as an iPad in my searches. Do you have the 13", 15", or 17" model?

Try a PRAM Reset (hold the PRAM reset for at least three chimes so it activates several times). Then try booting from the macOS USB installer. If you still have problems try booting into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R.

Did you create the USB installer using these instructions?

See if you can boot into the Apple Diagnostics.

Have you tried using another USB stick? Macs can be picky about the USB sticks used for booting plus the quality of USB sticks is extremely poor.
