Yes, it sounds like your best hope is a good customer service representative from Verizon.

You mention 5G. Obtaining 5G service will require both an appropriate SIM and a cellular plan that includes 5G service. I am an AT&T customer with an iPhone 12 Pro. I got the new SIM with my iPhone but did not see “5G” on my Home Screen or the 5G options in Settings > Cellular until I updated my cellular plan to include 5G (which naturally costs extra).

Thanks for you response. I'm trying to activate a new iPhone 12 Pro. I simply scanned a QR code with the new phone and then approved the deactivation of the old phone. Afterwards, the new phone is supposed to transfer the data plan.

The specific issue is that the iPhone 12 did not sinc with my carrier (Verizon). Currently, I have no cell service on the new phone, the old phone is deactivated, and Verizon support's response was "Gee that's weird. I've never seen that." I have listed this question under the iPhone 11 section because my new phone is not available in the pick list that led me here.

How did you purchase your Verizon iPhone 12?

As an example, one way (the least foolproof) would have been to use Apple’s website to order an iPhone 12 with Verizon as the carrier, then answer a few identity questions that Verizon supplies as part of the ordering process including your iPhone telephone number. Doing this would facilitate the iPhone’s activation. But instead you got a QR code from somewhere. We don’t know if you got, for example, an appropriate Verizon SIM card.

Again, thanks for the reply. I did purchase the phone new from Verizon. I am reading elsewhere that there is an issue activating the iPhone 12 specifically related to 5G and Verizon.

The QR code that I used came from Verizon. This is not a phone that came from an illicit source. I expect I’ll get the problem sorted through Verizon, but it may be that I have to get the right customer service person to accomplish the task. So far, I haven’t been successful there and that is why I posted the question here.
