TouchID features disappeared, unable to add new fingerprint

After updating my 13-inch MacBook Pro (2019), the touchID features went away. I no longer had the option to unlock my laptop through touchID, and can only get in by typing the password in. I restarted my laptop a couple of times trying to fix it, then decided to delete my current fingerprint to add a new one. For some reason, when I click on the add fingerprint option nothing happens and I am unable to add a fingerprint. It asks for my user password, then that is it. Clicking on it further would do nothing, as if I was clicking on a button to just light up the + symbol and that's it. This only started happening after updating to the Big Sur update version 11.1.

Just discovered how to fix it while trying to fix another issue regarding permissions. You have to reset the SMC of your Mac.
