Hi lwh63,
We understand you're having some problems with your MacBook Pro shutting down when you connect your Sony NW-A45 Walkman, and we'll gladly help isolate the problem. Is there any error messages that occur? If so, can you let us know exactly what the error messages say?
The resource below may help as well.
Per the link listed below the device isn't compatible with the Big Sur operating system at this time.

If your Mac restarted because of a problem
All the best!
Hi lwh63,
We appreciate you sending these additional details over to us. Since the problem only happens when connecting the mp3 player to the Mac, we encourage you to contact Sony support for more details when it's convenient. They will be in the best position to confirm whether the device is compatible with Big Sur.
Kind regards.
I get a black screen and in white text it says your computer will close because of a problem, press any key or wait for ** seconds.
So I press any key and then it reopens and I get the sign in box.
The machine closes down every time it registers that the NW-A45 has opened.
BTW I don't use the Content Transfer, I enter content manually.
