Mac Mini early 2009 CD/DVD slot not working

Hello! I have a Mac Mini early 2009 with a AD-5670S SuperDrive inside. The previously mentioned SuperDrive sadly doesn't work though, whenever I try to insert a CD or DVD in to it, it just revs up, stops, and finally ejects the cd.

Does anyone know why that's happening?

That's certainly possible but I would still buy an external drive. Apple stopped including optical drives in its computers many years ago and the advantage of an external drive is you can just use it with a different computer when you get a newer one. I think there are cases for slot loading drives but then you have the nuisance of trying to find one and then installing it. Most people don't need optical drives when on the go anyway.
