Can't find printer driver after downloading.

I have downloaded and installed the Pixma MX 475 driver (Big Sur version) from the Canon website but it is not showing in my Applications folder.

I connected the printer wirelessly to my router but, of course, without the driver it doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - many thanks.

Happy Christmas to all.

Look in your download folder for a .dmg file.

Double click the DMG file. A representation of it should show on your desktop.

Open that representation.

Run the installer from there.

Once the installer has completed, it should be possible to add the printer.

Note the printer will only hook up wirelessly if it is on the same secure WiFi network as the computer.

Hi,

Generally speaking, before attempting to install a downloaded driver, it is usually not a bad idea to reset the printing system.

Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support

Also, the Canon MX475 is mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology, meaning that it should not be necessary to download a separate driver at all. Software from the printer manufacturer may add functionality.

Thank you so much. Can't believe it was that simple and there I was thinking I know my way around a computer; just shows that you're never too old to learn new tricks.

I just wonder why Canon issue all these different drivers but don't explain that they're not really required.

Only slight niggle is that I must have downloaded the relevant driver about four times and selected Macintosh HD as the destination but I can't find anything on my HD or in Applications. I'd like to get rid of them, any idea where they might be?

Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas.
