iPhone 12 pro max Bluetooth issue

I have an iPhone 12 pro max and I am having problems connecting to my 2010 GMC SIERRA. The phone connects to the truck but when placing a call it says “ call Cannot be completed on your Bluetooth phone”. The call does go through but only on the phone and not the truck. Thought it was the truck but connected my iPhone XR and it works perfectly. My wife has an iPhone 12 pro max so I connected it and got the same problem. Is this an issue with the bluetooth stack? I am at a loss after resetting both the phone and truck but still having the same issue.

Hey Doug,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues making calls using the Bluetooth connection in your vehicle.

You've tried some great troubleshooting so far and have isolated this quite a bit. We would recommend using the steps from How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car which can help resolve most issues.

Since this happens particularly with both of your iPhone 12 Pro Max, it may be that a firmware update is needed for your stereo. Contact your car dealership to inquire about that. Let them know what's happening and how it's just the newest iPhone model with the issue.

Take care.
