Using an XLR mic with Final Cut Pro

Are there any adapter cords that can allow my xlr (phantom powered) mic to input to a new MacBook Air and thence into FCP?

You would probably want to get something like this:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1479273-REG/focusrite_scarlett_solo_3g_scarlett_solo_usb_audio.html

there are lots of other makes/models.

This would let you plug in an XLR microphone, provide phantom power to the microphone and send digital audio out the USB for use in your computer.

There are all types of XLR mics from £10 up to thousands.

If you have one of the cheaper varieties with an XLR to 3.5mm stereo jack cable you can use something like this or even cheaper.

They work surprisingly well.

I realized I don't really want to use my computer initially. That is, I've been video recording into my iPhone but external sound is inadequate. Do you think this type of adapter cord will let me connect the audio interface signal to my iPhone 8? I want to split the signal (from my sax): one goes into a mixer with added backing track into my headphones, the other out would go to the iPhone. Then I do a final mix in Final Cut Pro.
