DirecTV on MacBook Pro
The situation:
Trying to watch DirecTV on MacBook but NO LUCK.
- have the latest OS (Catalina 10.15.7)
- tried on the latest Chrome, Firefox and Safari
Each time I log in, select "watch online" and click on the show the message says tells "Install the Directv player" (from Synaguard media), I run the default install (no options other than default available) and click "watch now" and it tells me to "Install the Directv player" - an endless loop of downloads and nothing.
- I checked the certificate on the installer and it expired 5/2020.
- This has worked in the past on Chrome, but I recently un-installed Flash because Adobe is discontinuing support on 12/31/20.
- No problems watching using the Directv app on iOS (phone or iPAD).
The question:
Does Directv support watching via a Mac running OSX, and if so, are there decent instructions that work anywhere?
The frustration:
Annoying that Directv appears to not support video streaming on a Mac by providing old software with an expired certificate and [from past experience] that old software required a now-deprecated plugin (Flash) from Adobe and absolutely NO HELP on their website other than 'install the player".
All this makes me understand how Directv lost 900,000 customers in Q1 of 2020 (couldn't find more recent numbers, but based on the service level and the fact AT&T now has the Directv group for sale, it's probably increasing).
