Proximity sensor does not work when using Siri to call from locked screen

I have an iPhone 6s Plus and I’ve noticed the proximity sensor doesn’t work when I make a call using Siri from the locked screen. Any other time it works just fine (when calling after dialing manually or using Siri to call when the screen is unlocked). I have an iPhone 6s, and the proximity sensor works when the screen is locked, so it seems to be an issue with the 6s Plus.

I’ve tried force resetting the device and updating to the latest software version, but no luck.

Hey dpj4115,

To make sure we are on the same page, it seems like the proximity sensor on your iPhone 6s Plus does not work specifically when placing a call with Siri, but it does work under other circumstances, is that correct?

If so, we'd recommend a few steps to best isolate this issue.

As you've already updated to the latest iOS version, take a moment to restart your iPhone and test the issue again.

Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, take a moment to backup your device, and then restore it to factory settings using a Mac or PC.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Once restored, set the phone up as new, and test the issue. Let us know the results from there in a reply to this thread.

Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify, the issue only seems to happen when making a call using Siri while the phone is locked. If you use Siri to make a call while the phone is unlocked, the proximity sensor works just fine.

Siri + locked phone = proximity sensor NOT working

Siri + UNlocked phone = proximity sensor working

And, as I mentioned, the proximity sensor works just fine in all other circumstances as well. This has been a reoccurring issue with this phone for some time, and it hasn’t resolved itself after a factory reset.
